Alyssa Kenney – Clarinet Teaching Artist

Alyssa Kenney is a Chicago-based clarinet teaching artist offering lessons for beginner to advanced clarinetists, beginner piano, and beginner ukulele students.

“As a music educator and teaching artist, I take pride in helping aspiring musicians grow as individuals and learn from others. Watching music come to life in young musicians fuels my own passions. Throughout my musical training, I have worked with many inspiring people who are my role models today; I strive to be that model for my own students. These models have shaped me into a confident performer and educator through their expression of musical values, characteristic teaching methods, and being a life coach as well as a teacher.
My current and previous students have grown to become successful individuals. From student to student, the goals and values vary greatly. Some choose to be coached through competitions and strive for placement success, and others develop skills over time to find their voice in music. Regardless, music requires a high level of self-discipline. My teaching revolves around providing my students with the key tools they need to problem solve and work independently, while I coach them through their own musical journey. This includes developing healthy practice habits, active listening skills, and learning how to make music in a way that resonates with their own personality and goals.”
